GOLD Award Winner

Fundamentals of Coaching Excellence Internal Learning Program

We're honoured to have received the 2007 Gold Award from the Canadian Society of Training and Development for Scotiabank, International Banking. The award recognizes our successful attack on the challenge of sustaining learning.

Participants in the program followed a learning map designed to keep them engaged over a period of months. The components of the program included: two pre-classroom e-Learning modules, pre-work, conversations with a coach advisor, three days of classroom time, another e-Learning module, group "touch base" calls with the classroom facilitator, and multiple contacts with the coach advisor. A rigorous evaluation strategy was designed by HORN and used along the way to measure the business impact of the venture.

HORN's role was to design the curriculum and measurement methodology and to deliver the program to executives and senior leaders in Toronto, Canada, and cities in China, Chile, Peru, EI Salvador, Costa Rica, Mexico, and throughout the Caribbean. We also did an extensive train-the-trainer program, enabling, Scotiabank to roll out the program to the front lines throughout the bank's international network.

School in India

Showing its commitment to education, global awareness and social development, HORN recently became a founding sponsor of Grace Primary School in India.  A new non-profit school, it is dedicated to providing quality education to underprivileged children in a country where high poverty and illiteracy persist.  HORN’s contribution marked a significant milestone in the development of the school which opened in December 2006.  As Art Horn, President of HORN commented, “we are very pleased to support a venture that is helping the young and those in need around the world”.

HORN’s leadership as the school’s first corporate sponsor is making an invaluable difference in the lives of twenty young children in need in a village in Goa.  These children now have an opportunity to grow in a safe, caring and supportive learning environment that will enable each child to realize his or her full potential.  For these children, their families and the community at large, it is a chance to break the cycle of poverty and disadvantage that many people still face today.

Executive Breakfast

HORN hosted an Executive Breakfast Briefing on Thursday, October 19, 2006. The event featured "humanistic influence", a high-integrity way for salespeople, leaders, and coaches to influence others. Peter Ronan, Executive Vice President of Sales at Allstream was joined by Tal Bevan, Allstream's former Executive Vice President, Sales. Speaking on behalf of HORN was Art Horn, President, and Sean Verhoeven, Vice President, Senior Consultant.

Humanistic Influence is about demonstrating genuine goal-alignment through healthy dialogue. It is not only academically researched and grounded, it is real-world proven. In fact, Humanistic Influence is already contributing to the success of coaches and salespeople in both North and South America.
